About the Author
Robin Landa is a Distinguished Professor in the Michael Graves College, Kean University. She has written over twenty books about graphic design, advertising design, branding, creativity, and drawing -- including Graphic Design Solutions, 6th Edition, Advertising By Design, 3rd Edition, and Nimble: Thinking Creatively In The Digital Age, which received an outstanding review in Communication Arts. She has won numerous awards for her design, writing, and research, including awards from the National Society of Arts and Letters and the National League of Pen Women. She received the 2015 Human Rights Educator award, 2013 Kean Teacher of the Year, and the Carnegie Foundation lists her among the great teachers of our time. Robin was the sole judge of the 2014 HOW Logo Competition and is a favorite speaker at the HOW Design conferences.Crack The Spine published Robin's short story, "Bottled Up." Recently, Robin presented on the subject of personal branding at Columbia University and HOW Design magazine has published many of her articles. I took a digital imaging class that involved reading this cook, and writing critiques on works, using the elements and principles of design as outlined in the book. That book got dogeared! The class involved some concepts of Art that I hadn't been exposed to, due to not being educated in the fine Arts. This book filled in many gaps.
This book is great. I underline and highlight in it constantly. It has great examples that reinforce the text and is easy to read and understand. I am a beginning designer and this book really helped me out. I know that I will refer back to it often because design principles are timeless.

I had to purchase this book for a class. I found the book to be a difficult read because terminology tended to contradict itself. Most of the class agreed that the book did not flow as well as it could have.
This book is graphic, simple and easy to read. If you want to know more about the science behind visual design, you'll enjoy this.
Bought this book for a graphics design class and totally regret it because it's not useful what so ever. Maybe it's written with the laymen in mind because other than industry lingo, fluff, and pretty pictures as examples, there's really not much content. No bold statements or assertions made in the realm of design. Save your money.
