About the Author
JENNIFER GORDON SATTLER received her BFA in painting in 1991 from the University of New Hampshire and her MFA from Indiana University, Bloomington, Hope School of Fine Arts in 1994. She has taught painting and drawing and exhibited extensively, winning an NEA grant in 1996. She is now a full-time mom living in Greenfield, New York.

I purchased this book as a signing book for my daughters first birthday. It fit her Flamingo Fiesta theme perfectly, and I love the message it sends - Other people may seem cool, but it's always best to be yourself.
Absolutely adorable book for my 3 year old grand daughter who loves “mingosâ€. The story line is simple but exciting to see how Sylvie changes with each new food. Loved the illustrations. Very colorful and detailed. Was very happy that Sylvie was most happy just being herself. I purchased a Melissa and Doug plush flamingo to go along with the book. She loved them both.
I really enjoyed this story. The artwork is beautiful and the story has a good message.You follow Sylvie, the flamingo, as she takes on physical aspects of those around based on what she eats. She learns along the way that it's ok to embrace who you are, but can still add a little of your own pizzazz and let your own personality shine through.I got this for a friend's baby shower along with a tie-dyed flamingo to go with it. It was a big hit!
My toddler LOVES Sylvie. We read it daily and many days all day long. It is tattered with love. She carries it around with her and reads it to herself (baby style). Best book purchase ever. Also as an art teacher, I love the color and patterns Sylvie becomes. Adorable illustrations! Simple sentence per page. Great for toddler.
I collect flamingos and this book was an addition to it! Cute story, will be reading it to my grand-daughter!
This book was an instant hit with my 16 month old. She pulls it out to be read so many times a day. She loves the different colors in the book. It’s funny and goofy.
Great story for story times. It sets the stage and then moves forward with the great question, What do you think will happen next, or in this case what color do you think she will turn. I have had good luck reading this to reluctant listeners who really got interested in Sylvie and her adventure.
This is perfect for those that feel different. Or it’s a great lesson about accepting those around you.
