So I actually got this booklet from another source shortly after getting a B.A. in Digital Technology because I felt that I hadn't focused enough on the actual process of UX flow and portfolio building. This book, along with some other web resources and online classes I found, was an excellent foundation for developing a more in depth understanding of UX Design. It covers what UX is and why its important as well as the processes involved. For the price of this book you just cant go wrong with the amount of knowledge it imparts.
This book was a blessing to me. UX is a never ending learning experience and there is no better organization tooled to support our industry better than the Interaction Design Foundation. IDF applies what it teaches which is one of the reasons I simple love the organization and this book 'The Basics of User Experience Design". An excellent read for those interested in kicking off a career in UX design. I had no idea where to even begin to understand UX design, but this book helped tremendously. It is very well written and easy to follow which assisted in retaining information. Clearly the author is dedicated to teaching others about this field and it shows. This is a valuable resource for any designer to have and definitely worth reading.
While I do not design user interfaces, this book offers especially helpful insight that can also aid in designing visualizations for Business Intelligence reporting. Definitely worth the read.
This is a great book for people interested in starting a career in User Centered Design.
I'm only a few chapters into this little booklet, but already I have been inspired to think like a designer as I help my team create multimedia learning experiences for our new online career development course. Thinking from the user's perspective is truly being student-centered.
