This is a great little book! My adopted 10 year old is hesitant about us adopting a second time from foster care. So, we bought this book to assist in the process. I thought he would resist reading it but when he saw it he was very excited to read it. It is very true to the process. It explains that older children don't just show up one day; the parents meet them first, then they come for a visit, then they sleep over and eventually when they are comfortable they come to stay. It doesn't sugar coat it. She thinks he is annoying. He thinks she is yucky. Siblings are annoying especially when they move in and they are already talking and playing with your toys, etc!. Our son has asked to read this book over and over again. He still isn't entirely excited about having a new sibling but the book is helping him process it. It has brought up many questions and we have been able to talk it out. I highly recommend it for anyone seeking to add to an existing family with an older child from foster care!

I loved everything about this book! Great story! Look for other Jean Little books too - you won’t be disappointed!

This book was what I was looking for to help our 5yr biological son understand what it might be like when we adopt from foster care. He asks me to read a lot!

As a mother to a daughter named Emma and an adopted son named Max, how could I not love these books? My son is three now and gets such a kick out of the characters and pointing to the pictures telling me which one is Emma and which one is Max. Aside from the name and adoption coincidence, these are very cute books about being a family and loving a sibling.

Nice book for kids, good storys.

If you have a reluctant young reader, this book is a must. The I Can Read series provides well controlled vocabulary appropriate to the level and always an interesting story line.

nice

This book did a fantastic job of covering the wide range of emotions that children will encounter when they bring an adoptive sibling into their home. Both my four-year old and six-year old love it. It's great for beginning readers and has some remarkably touching moments for a children's book. HIghly recommended!
